Under the general supervision of the Principal or designee, and the direct supervision of the Academic Vice Principal, the credentialed Education faculty member is responsible for teaching students and providing individualized instruction and material in life skills, basic reading, writing, math, General Education Development, high school subjects, or designated vocational trade. The credentialed Education faculty member will provide instructional packets, one-to-one instruction, small group and/or large group instruction to inmates based on each student’s interest, needs, understanding and/or ability level. The credentialed Education faculty member will also monitor student progress and issue certificates and chronos when appropriate.

Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment. Candidates new to CDCR are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by departmental annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.
