The Amazon Robotics team is seeking broad, curious engineers to join our robotic manipulation team. We holistically design, build, and deliver end-to-end robotic systems. Our team is also responsible for core infrastructure and tools that serve as the backbone of our robotic applications, enabling roboticists, machine learning scientists, software engineers, and hardware engineers to collaborate and deploy systems in the field.
Key job responsibilities
As a Sr. Robotics Hardware Engineer, you will lead the design, build, and test of innovative systems and modules such as workcells, conveyance and robotic end of arm tools, for our robotic Fulfillment Center solutions. The ideal candidate has experience designing and analyzing mechanical and mechatronic systems, enjoys analytical problem solving, is an expert at design tools such as SolidWorks, and possesses practical knowledge of fabrication, assembly, and rapid prototyping methods.
A Sr. Hardware Engineer will be responsible for:
- Collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to create, test and deploy new mechatronic designs, and improve and maintain existing product designs.
- Working with the Operations, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Quality organizations, as well as vendors, to ensure a smooth production transition of design changes
- Writing requirements and functional specifications, design verification plans, and functional test procedures
- Exhibiting role model behaviors of thorough engineering analysis and cradle to grave ownership
- Mentoring colleagues
- Working with external vendors and integrators to deliver automation solutions at scale.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- MS in Mechanical Engineering or similar and 5+ years of experience
- BS in Mechanical Engineering or similar and 7+ years experience
- Established background in Robotics or Mechatronic Systems
- Experience related to systems architecture, design, and system integration of mechatronic devices.
- SolidWorks or similar CAD experience with best practices for part design, advanced assemblies, complex configuration management
- PDM and PLM experience
- Strong hands on experience with the ability to craft simple proof-of-concept models
- Thorough understanding and use of principals, theories and concepts in mechanical engineering
- Experience with sizing motors, gear trains, mechanism design, kinematics, and structural analysis
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work well with teams of hardware and software engineers
- Ability to effectively communicate concepts and proposals
