Job Summary

This posting is for openings within the Benefit Accuracy Measurement (BAM) unit.

The BAM review process is mandated by the US Department of Labor as a quality control mechanism for state Unemployment Insurance (UI) programs. The day-to-day work of BAM involves reconstructing the adjudication process for random samples of both UI payments and denied applications. BAM roles are assigned on a rotating basis. Rotations are designed to help staff build fact-finding and problem-solving skills that are applicable to more advanced work focused on continuous improvement of program performance. Developmental activities during BAM rotations include on-the-job training, career development coaching, and elective classroom-style trainings tailored to the goals and interests of individual staff.

This position is telework eligible and is occasionally required to be on-site at the St. Paul office. Staff are provided with the tools and equipment to be successful in a virtual work environment and may telework from anywhere in Minnesota or a neighboring state. Please note, the telework policy could change with notice based on business needs.

This position is expected to last up to two (2) years. This posting may be used to fill multiple positions.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Eighteen (18) months of experience in customer service AND six (6) months of experience in the Minnesota Unemployment Insurance Program

Applicants that meet the above minimum qualification will be further evaluated on the following:

Knowledge of:

  • Minnesota Unemployment Insurance law and rules, departmental operations, practices and procedures
  • UI Business model

Ability to

  • Read and understand complex unemployment insurance law and regulations; analyze and evaluate information to make determinations on benefit payments, employer tax status, and to distinguish between fraudulent actions as opposed to error
  • Use desktop application software (Microsoft Access, Word, Excel and SharePoint)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to understand technical concepts in databases, software applications and interfaces
  • Skill in analysis and evaluation concepts
  • Organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines
