Role Overview
We're on the lookout for an experienced Senior Underwriter to join our Products Liability & Contractors team. In this role, you'll handle underwriting for a diverse range of general, trade, and specialty contractors, as well as products manufacturers, importers, and distributors. While we ideally want this role based in Richmond, VA, we're open to remote arrangements for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Underwrite complex new and renewal submissions within established guidelines, making sound risk decisions that support our growth and profitability goals.
- Negotiate terms and conditions in alignment with our coverage-focused underwriting strategies.
- Promote our insurance products through various communication channels and occasional business travel.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with our appointed wholesale brokers.
- Track key metrics and ratios, focusing on efficiency and profitability.
- Provide training and mentorship to less experienced team members.
- Engage in special projects and corporate initiatives as needed.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in underwriting, particularly in Products Liability or Contractors.
- Strong technical knowledge of casualty and other liability insurance lines.
- Established relationships within the wholesale broker community with a demonstrated ability to build effective connections.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Detail-oriented with advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Dedicated to exceptional customer service and exceeding service expectations.
- Bachelor's degree preferred but not required; relevant work experience will be considered.
- CPCU designation or similar industry coursework is a plus but not required.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to support corporate interests.

The salary range for this role is $120k-$160k base, depending on experience, plus bonus.
