Work Location Type: Work will require time both on campus and off campus, at filming locations, and at government facilities where we operate TV systems including in the cities of Ashland, Grants Pass and Medford.
Work Hours: Flexible. May require unusual hours to accommodate production and meeting schedules.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:


This position will coordinate weekly operations of RVTV in collaboration with the RVTV Operations Manager, as well as coordinate productions for the DMC, including student productions and production services offered by the DMC to the campus and regional clients. Production coordinating responsibilities will include oversight of pre-production, production, and post-production activities, technical oversight of A/V services (live sound, projection), oversight of multi-camera live streaming events in the field, operating the LIVE switching streaming systems at RVTV government partner facilities, supporting RVTV master control, and DMC studio operations for televised events. Will coordinate and facilitate instructional workshops in production technology, which may include in-class demonstrations, and community education courses. Will provide technical support to SOU academic classes held at the DMC or utilizing DMC resources, helping maintain the academic equipment inventory, and providing equipment troubleshooting to students, faculty, and staff as needs arise.


The Production & Operations Coordinator will also serve as a lead content creator for the DMC and RVTV, creating social media assets, supporting marketing and outreach initiatives of the DMC and partnered organizations, and supporting special events hosted by the DMC focused on the media industry and media education.



Minimum Requirements

  • Five years professional media production experience. This may include broadcast videography, professional social media content production, film production, and other commercial video or television production.




Preferred Requirements

  • BA/BS in communication, film/television, media, or similar.
  • 1+ year in working production environment(s) in film, video, or television production.
  • Experience with broadcast television production, multi-camera robotic production systems, or LIVE streaming productions.
  • Familiar with educational / training environment(s) in film, video, or television production. Teaching assistant experience in film, video, or television.
  • Previous experience contributing content to organizational social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.
  • Experience with stage / studio audio and lighting systems.
  • Professional certifications in modern digital production or post-production, ie; FAA drone certification, post-production software certifications (Adobe, AVID, Davinci), etc.




Essential Functions


Duties - The following examples are typical work activities that are meant to illustrate the general range of work functions and are not meant to be all-inclusive or restrictive:


(30%) Production Lead for Government Meetings

  • Operating LIVE broadcast switching systems for RVTV Government television LIVE meetings and events. These duties are performed individually but require interface with government staff and elected officials at different venues.
  • Operating robotic PTZ cameras, switching video for live cablecast/streaming, updating and inserting graphics to program, switching presentation sources, ensuring proper audio levels, and ensuring proper signal distribution via RVTV transmission systems.
  • Assist with channel scheduling, bulletin board updating, meeting operator scheduling and training, and master control operation for the RVTV channels.
  • Media transcoding, metadata editing, and cloud file maintenance and sharing.
  • Distribution of event and programming schedules as directed.



(25%) Production Coordination for Academic Projects and Client Services

  • Production coordination, production, and post-production support for SOU Digital Media Center productions and supervision of student productions under faculty guidance. This may include scheduling, pre-production, production, and post-production.
  • Coordination with clients on production schedules and review of deliverables may be required. Support for studio productions produced by the DMC, SOU Faculty, and certified community partners. This may also include design and deployment of A/V support systems for clients, including sound reinforcement, projection, and small stage/lighting set-ups.



(25%) Education and Workshop Coordination

  • Support for SOU and RVTV media education classes and programs. This will include supporting the academic equipment checkout office, its inventory maintenance, and minor equipment maintenance. Will also include offering technical support to faculty, staff, and student users of the DMC spaces, equipment, and resources. Will also coordinate and facilitate instructional workshops in production technology, which may include in-class demonstrations, as well as leading community media education courses.
  • Assist with building projects and resource organization to optimize efficiency of productions and technical instruction environments.



(20%) Social Media Marketing

  • Contributing content for social media assets, assisting with the marketing and outreach initiatives of the DMC and partnered organizations, and assisting with special events hosted by the DMC focused on the media industry and media education. This may include coordinating post scheduling with DMC student staff, capturing behind the scenes stills and video of productions and events, and archiving and maintaining a library of media assets for marketing and outreach purposes.

Special Conditions

  • Must be willing to travel and attend training programs off-site for occasional professional development.
  • Must be able to work additional hours and adjust working hours to meet special jobs. May be called back periodically to perform work as needed on an emergency basis.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background check.
  • This position classification has been defined as non-exempt and is subject to the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
