Job Description

Private Couple with a 25,000 square-foot estate in Upper Brookville, NY is looking to hire a Live-in Domestic Couple to work 5 days a week.  A private apartment inside the main residence, with a separate entrance, will be provided.  

Job Responsibilities: 

• House management and daily maintenance (interior).  Perform deep cleaning: wash, dust, polish, vacuum, and sweep.
• Deep clean the residence
• Sort and wash laundry using machines or by hand as required
• Iron, fold and distribute laundry
• Cooking for the couple
• Empty and clean trash cans
• Work with antiques, delicate/fragile items, fine linen, artwork, etc.
• Organize closets, pantries, shelves etc.
• Maintain and ensure adequate stock of house supplies & cleaning supplies
• Prepare home for overnight guests/parties/gatherings (including serving guests and clean up) Listen and respond to all resident’s queries and requests
• Keep cleaning equipment in good working condition
• Report any maintenance issues
• Assist with meal preparation, serving and clean up
• Occasionally driving the Principles
• Walk and feed all house pets as needed (2 dogs and 2 birds)
• Pet sit when the Principles travel 
• Set the formal table daily 
• Serving and clean up after meals
• Supervise suppliers and maintenance services
• Additional errands as needed

Requirements:

• 3 years + experience
• Ability to manage your time efficiently
• Work well unsupervised.
• Ability to lift at least 25 pounds.
• Ability to maintain a professional appearance and interact positively with guests
• Ability to work well with a team
• Travel as needed
• Open to working weekends

The day starts with setting the breakfast table for the family, followed by breakfast clean up. The day continues with making beds, cleaning rdaily vacuumning and damp moping of kitchen, mudroom and family den. A lunch table is set for Mrs. The afternoon may include errands or shopping and followed by assisting the Mrs. in the kitchen preparing dinner.. A dinner table is always set, and formal serving is required. Throughout the day ironing and laundry are attended to. Flexibility is the most important part of this role, as no day is quite the same as the next with smaller projects that come up, this role also includes break times for the couple. There will certainly be breaks during the day but need to be taken around the priority of the Principles. 

The family currently has outside/exterior help- the couple will work together in the formal household, serve dinners  and the couple will have to support each other

Position Responsibilities

• Work Days/Hours: Saturday – Wednesday…daily hours vary depending on the needs. Generally an 8-10 hour day with breaks during the day.
• Living Conditions:Private apartment on the main residence with a separate entrance.
• Languages: English
• Experience: 3+ years working as a Domestic Couple 
• Respect: Recognizing and respecting the boundaries of employer/ employee relationship
• Proactive Common Sense and ability to work without being micromanaged
• Submit to extensive background screenings and drug testing
• Must have a clean drivers license
• Must provide valid references

Position Compensation

• Salary: $150,000 + Depending on experience
• Vacation: Yes
• Health Insurance: Stipend toward your own plan
