Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW

Chicago Pacific Founders is seeking a licensed Clinical Psychologist to provide psychological consultation and short-term counseling services as part of our interdisciplinary rehabilitation teams. The psychologist will work directly with patients who have experienced stroke, cancer, amputation, traumatic brain injury, acquired neurological conditions, spinal cord injury, and other complex medical issues. This position involves providing bedside evaluations and treatment within free-standing acute medical rehabilitation hospitals and rehabilitation units within medical/surgical hospitals.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct initial psychological evaluations and provide short-term individual and family counseling to support emotional adjustment to major acute and chronic medical conditions.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team, including physiatry, physical/occupational/speech therapy, and case management, to integrate psychological services into coordinated care plans.
  • Assist with discharge planning and facilitate out-patient follow-up for ongoing emotional support as needed.
  • Maintain timely and comprehensive documentation in the hospital's electronic health record system, with the flexibility to work on-site or remotely.
  • Stay up to date on laws, regulations, and standards relevant to psychological service delivery in the medical/rehabilitation setting.

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Doctoral degree (PhD or PsyD) in Clinical or Counseling Psychology with a focus on health/rehabilitation psychology.
  • Completion of an APA-accredited internship, preferably in a medical/surgical hospital or inpatient rehabilitation setting.
  • Fully licensed or license-eligible for independent practice.
  • Previous experience working in hospital, medical, or rehabilitation psychology is highly preferred.
  • Strong interprofessional communication skills to collaborate effectively across disciplines.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and adapt to a fluid, dynamic work environment.
  • Bilingual Spanish fluency is desired but not required.
