Job Description

Rodriguez Consulting, LLC (Rodriguez) is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Geospatial Surveyor to join our team in the exciting neighborhood of Fishtown in Philadelphia. At Rodriguez, you will have the opportunity to work on meaningful projects that help rebuild infrastructure and communities in the Philadelphia region and beyond.

As a Geospatial Surveyor II, you'll play a crucial role in providing technical surveying and mapping services that support the design and construction of water, sewer, stormwater, and roadway projects. This role will be primarily office-based (80-90%), focusing on data processing, drafting, and geospatial analysis, but may involve fieldwork as needed to support field operations (10-20%). You may be required to assist in the collection, processing, and analysis of spatial data using a variety of tools and techniques, including GPS, total stations, and GIS software. Your work will contribute to ensuring the accuracy and reliability of critical infrastructure systems. You'll collaborate with team members and clients, including agencies like the Philadelphia Water Department, to deliver high-quality mapping and surveying services.

Not only will you be part of a great team at Rodriguez, but you'll also have the peace of mind knowing you're part of a company that values its employees. We offer a first-rate benefits and incentives package, including subsidized health care, dental and prescription plans, a retirement plan with matching percentage, and flexible work schedules. Plus, with a minimum of 15 days paid time off and eight paid holidays, you'll have ample opportunities to recharge and enjoy life outside of work.

Join our team and unlock your potential as a Geospatial Surveyor!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Surveying and Mapping: Use GNSS, robotic total stations, and multistation tools to capture and interpret geographic data. Primarily lead office-based mapping tasks and data integration, with occasional field support to ensure data accuracy and mentor junior staff.

  • Data Processing and Drafting: Convert field data into maps using AutoCAD Civil 3D, Carlson Survey, etc. Lead data processing efforts independently, ensure company standards are adhered to, and support junior staff.

  • Field Data Collection: Support field surveying setups and data collection when needed. Primarily office-based but available for fieldwork to configure tools and oversee junior staff when required.

  • Geospatial Analysis & Visualization: Use tools like Google Earth, MyMaps, and Esri ArcGIS platforms for mapping. Lead office-based analysis, create survey plans, and support junior staff.

  • 3D Laser Scanning and Modeling: Conduct 3D scanning using UAV systems for utility and site surveys, primarily focused on office-based data processing.

  • Task/Project Planning and Coordination: Assist in executing technical tasks under team leader guidance. Help Team Leaders with planning, client communication, and task coordination.

  • Guidance and Development: Provide training and guidance to junior staff.

  • Continuous Professional Development: Stay updated on geospatial technologies and methodologies.

Requirements

  • Education : Bachelor's degree in Geospatial Science, Land Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field.

  • Experience : 2-5 years of experience in surveying, mapping, or geospatial analysis.

  • Certifications : Preferred credentials include GIS Professional (GISP), Surveyor in Training (SIT), CST Level II, or a Master's Degree in relevant fields.
