SALARY/RANK: Rank and tenure track status will be determined based upon the qualifications, skills and experience of the successful candidate.
QUALIFICATIONS: Doctoral degree preferred in a relevant field of study, such as Environmental Science, Botany, or Biology. ABD near completion will be considered. The successful candidate should possess strong analytical and communication skills and should demonstrate an ability to work collaboratively and effectively with students and with other instructors. Effective teaching and advising experience, demonstrated organizational skills, and the ability to work independently are also strongly desired. Experience teaching lecture and lab components of Botany and both introductory and advanced courses in Environmental Science preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIES: This is a full-time, 9-month position with teaching responsibilities in the Environmental Science and Biology programs. The successful candidate will teach twelve credit hours per semester in Botany, Intro to Environmental Science, Environmental Health & Toxicology, and other courses, most of which include lab components. In addition, the candidate will assist with student recruitment and serves as an academic advisor and research mentor. The University’s off-campus working farm with classroom and greenhouse facilities provides unique opportunities to develop research projects involving native vegetation, terrestrial and aquatic ecology, and old growth forests, as well as student internship opportunities related to land conservation, greenhouse maintenance, and community programming.”
