SMG is seeking an Environmental Field Advisor - Utilities in the Corpus Christi, Texas area. Under limited supervision and oversight, the Environmental Field Advisor works in a team environment to provide environmental permitting and compliance support for electric transmission, telecom, distribution, and regional workplace services projects within a geographic area. Responsibilities include providing training, guidance, and other necessary support on applicable environmental requirements and permits, advising on applicable environmental requirements associated with projects, and coordinating with the appropriate business unit staff, contractors, and external parties to ensure compliance with environmental requirements.
Overview of Job Responsibilities - Coordinate and implement all environmental field activities and policies in the assigned region(s) to ensure compliance with environmental laws, regulations, company policies, standards, procedures, and strategic environmental goals for construction projects.
- Communicate and document corrective actions and deviations appropriately
- Provide training, instruction, and assistance to others on implementing environmental permit requirements and assist in developing environmental training materials
- Promote and enforce (see something, say something, do something) safe work practices to safeguard employees, contractors, the general public, and company facilities
- Provide support during environmental compliance reviews, internal audits, agency or regulatory site inspections, and pre-bid or pre-construction meetings
- Develop and maintain all environmental documents and records by environmental content management standards
Requirements
- Minimum of 6 years of environmental experience with an associate degree or 4 years of environmental experience with a bachelor's degree or 8 years of environmental experience with an HS Diploma
- Previous experience working around construction projects
- Must possess a thorough knowledge of environmental studies
- NPDES construction stormwater permits
- State & local permits for erosion and sediment control
- Floodplain permits
- US Army Corp of Engineers Section 10, 404, 401 & 408 permits and related delineations
- Threatened and endangered species
- Cultural resources
- Possess planning and organization ability, problem-solving, excellent written and oral communication skills, and initiative
Physical Demands of the job may include - 80-90% travel within the region and overnight stays as required
- Moving about long distances
- Ascending/descending stairs and ladders
- Remaining in a stationary position for a prolonged period
- Working in extreme weather
- Being exposed to loud noises
- Wearing personal protective gear correctly
