Under the general supervision of a District Office Engineer (DOE), Senior Transportation Engineer, the incumbent reviews draft Construction Contract Submittal (CCS) from various designers, internal and external, provides written comments to help the Design office develop a full, complete, consistent, and accurate CCS, and to submit CCS to Division of Engineering Services, Program Project Management and Office Engineer (PPM&OE) for advertising. Each CCS is composed of the Plans, Specifications, and Estimate (PS&E), as well as required supporting documents listed in the CCS Checklist.

Position located in Oakland, Alameda County.
The incumbent will work primarily in a climate controlled office setting with artificial lighting. May be required to travel for trainings and/or meetings. May also be required to make field or construction site visits. Possession of a valid driver's license is required to operate a State owned or leased vehicle.
This position may be eligible for telework. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and based on Caltrans' evolving telework policy. Employees are expected to be able to report to their worksites with minimum notification if an urgent need arises. The selected candidate will be required to commute to the headquartered location as needed to meet operational needs. Business travel may be required, and reimbursement considers an employee's designated headquartered location, primary residence, and may be subject to CalHR regulations or applicable bargaining unit contract provisions. All commute expenses to the headquartered location will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.
Appointment to Range D requires a valid Professional Engineering License (Electrical) issued by the California Board of Registration for Professional Engineers. For all other ranges, a PE license is not required.
Possession of a valid driver’s license is required when operating a State owned or leased vehicle.
Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) is required. Failure to submit a Statement of Qualifications will disqualify candidates from the hiring process.
