Core Duties:

  • Follows protocols, procedures and processes prescribed by federal regulatory compliance agency under the Food and Cosmetic Act, amended 2019
  • Utilizes prescribed devices to access assignments, collect and submit investigative/inspection data and reports and to obtain investigative reports of underage operatives
  • Develops professional relationships and assists local government licensing and law enforcement officials as required
  • Performs special assignments and assists with ATD enforcement as required and permitted
  • Trains to develop full proficiency in some or all of the following:
  • Conducting inspections of licensed businesses to determine compliance with federal and state laws and regulations governing tobacco manufacturing and sales in Georgia
  • Investigating alleged or suspected violations of federal and/or state laws and regulations related to tobacco and/or alcohol products
  • Conducting operations to verify compliance with the minimum age requirements of alcohol and tobacco laws in Georgia & actively recruits & training underage operatives for undercover investigations/inspections
  • Conducting federal Advertising and Labeling inspections to assure compliance with advertising, display and other federal regulations


Note: Overnight stays may occasionally be required.



Minimum Entry Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND must meet the prerequisites and complete the Basic Law Enforcement Training Program certification

OR

Two years of experience in law enforcement or related field AND P.O.S.T. certification.



Note: Some positions may require incumbent to have a valid Class C driver's license.

Preferred Criteria:

  • Active P.O.S.T. Basic Law Enforcement (PBLE) Certification

  • Knowledge of Georgia laws and regulations related to tobacco controls

  • Two or more consecutive years of experience conducting law enforcement investigations as a police officer, detective, deputy, or above

Expected salary range: $45,405.27 - $55,245
