The role
In a constantly evolving retail environment, it is an exciting time to be a part of the Customer Development team at Colgate!
We are seeking a Category Management Manager to support our partnership with Family Dollar, where you will act as the category expert by delivering category-leading presentations and by communicating opportunities for our customers. You'll work closely with both internal and external partners to champion outstanding working relationships with customers, as well as work cross-functionally to develop the business. Ability to uncover results based on fact-based selling is priority in this role. You'll contribute category management support for internal processes and complete customer category reviews by utilizing category analysis, shopper insights and other available analytic tools. You’ll also own, scorecard and supervise the execution of 5P activities in line with established objectives and guidelines.

Who you are
- A storyteller - The ability to interpret, integrate, and communicate shopper & consumer data to tell fact-based stories to drive category solutions is crucial for this role. You understand how shopper behavior drives the category & will use this as the foundation to develop customer presentations, recommendations for new item introductions, and conduct plan-o-gram reviews.
- A strategizer - You'll work to understand where to align Colgate brand strategies and priorities with Family Dollar strategies for an outcome where we both succeed. You will execute new product initiatives and work to determine the effectiveness of Colgate and competitive promotions through post-analysis.
- A collaborator - In this role, you will act as a consultant to the customer, where you'll establish key partnerships that thrive on mutual trust and integrity. You will also collaborate internally, communicating and reinforcing brand strategies & objectives.
- A systems expert - We expect you'll have a strong proficiency in Nielsen, Homescan Panel, Spectra, IRI, FeatureVision, Numerator & JDA and other customer point of sale systems to best provide reliable, substantial data analysis. You’ll use shelf management software and category expertise to provide recommendations for shelf placement for new items and existing products. You will also coordinate “Fair Share of Shelf” support and develop plan-o-gram’s using plan-o-gram software.
- A continuous improver - We are constantly looking for opportunities to improve. We'll value your ability to identify gaps & opportunities, adapt insights and translate them to meaningful & actionable recommendations for Family Dollar and for Colgate.
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- 4+ years of consumer product sales or category management experience, or other relevant sales/marketing experience
- 4+ years of experience analyzing syndicated data
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Availability to travel up to 10% of the time
Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range $102 400,00 - $128 000,00 USD
Pay is based on multiple non-discriminatory, individualized factors including but not limited to experience, job-related knowledge and education, skills and office/market location. In addition to base salary, salaried employees are eligible for annual discretionary bonuses, profit-sharing and, for Executive-level (salary grade 16 and above) roles only, long-term incentives in the form of Restricted Stock Units and/or Stock Options.
Subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable benefits plans then in effect, all salaried employees are also eligible for a competitive benefits package which includes:
- Insurance: Employees (and their eligible dependents) are eligible to participate in Company-sponsored Medical, Dental, Vision, Basic Life Insurance, Accidental Death & Dismemberment and Disability insurance plans.
- Retirement Plans: Employees are eligible to enroll in Colgate's 401(k) plan, which provides for company matching contributions subject to eligibility requirements
- Vacation/PTO: Employees receive a minimum of 15 days of vacation/PTO leave annually
- Paid Holidays: Employees receive a minimum of 13 paid/floating holidays annually
- Paid Sick Leave: Based on location and consistent with applicable state and local law, employees receive a minimum of 40 hours of paid sick leave on January 1st of each year
- Paid Parental Leave: Eligible employees may take up to eight weeks of paid parental leave and 12 weeks of unpaid leave (varies for employees with fewer than 12 months of service and is subject to hours worked requirements)
