Office of Undergraduate Admission supports UCLA student enrollment goals through recruitment, admission, and yield practices consistent with the mission and values of the university. Position Summary



In support of Undergraduate Admission (UA) efforts to meet annual new student recruitment and enrollment goals, the Assistant Director, Tour Programs is responsible for co-supervising Campus Tour Program (designed for students in 9th grade level through college level) and Cub Tour Program (designed for students in kindergarten through 8th grade). The Assistant Director is responsible for planning, coordinating and overseeing UA campus tour-related activities and logistics and ensuring a high-quality visitor experience. The primary objective of the position is to design comprehensive campus tours that provide an immersive experience of campus life, enabling guests to experience the university's academic, social, and personal opportunities first-hand. By showcasing the academic opportunities, campus facilities, vibrant atmosphere, culture, and community atmosphere, tours should aim to be insightful and help students and their families make informed decisions about applying and ultimately enrolling. Campus tours should be tailored to stimulate and motivate an academically competitive, talented and broadly diverse applicant pool of California resident, domestic non-resident and international students, from elementary through college level. The Assistant Director will also visit a limited number of secondary schools in the Los Angeles area (as needed), providing substantive information about UCLA specifically, and the University of California generally.

Qualifications



  • Bachelor's Degree with 3+ years of related job experience. (Required)
  • Knowledge and experience working with a diverse student population. (Required)
  • Detailed knowledge of UCLA its academic programs, opportunities and services for students and University policies, procedures, deadlines and practices related to undergraduate admission at UCLA specifically, and the University of California more broadly. (Preferred)
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake a broad variety of activities, including but not limited to programmatic initiatives, internal and external group presentations, and the development and implementation of effective marketing strategies, to stimulate and motivate an academically competitive, talented and broadly diverse applicant pool. (Required)
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively in person, through electronic and virtual media, and in writing, representing the University in a professional and accurate manner on often complex topics related to student academic preparation and University admission. (Required)
  • Demonstrated organizational skills in setting and managing priorities which accurately reflect relative importance of position responsibilities and that facilitate the completion of institutional and unit goals and successful programmatic outcomes. (Required)
  • Demonstrated skill in interpreting University admission guidelines and analyzing academic and test records to determine applicant eligibility and competitiveness for admission. (Required)
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, plan, implement and evaluate effective recruitment initiatives for targeted audiences. Ability to collect and interpret data from internal and external sources, i.e. Customer Relations Management (CRM), College Board EPS, to gauge success of efforts and inform decision-making. Ability to compile data and generate reports. (Required)
  • Working knowledge of the University of California in general and other post-secondary Educational opportunities, particularly in California, including their academic programs and services available to students. (Preferred)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, sensitivity to the needs of a diverse prospective student population, a commitment to quality teamwork; initiative, independence, and motivation are required. (Required)
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with other staff members, subordinates, school administrators and officials and representatives. (Required)
  • Demonstrated skill in supervising student staff including delegating responsibility, training and evaluating performance. (Required)
  • Familiarity with and ability to use technology tools to advance unit goals. (Required)
